Child deaths
« on: Tuesday 01 January 13 11:27 GMT (UK) »
Not particularly a happy subject but... My Great Great Grandmother Maud Barley (maiden name reeve) from Staveley in Derbyshire, had loads of kids -something like 17. in the 1911 census there is mention of 5 children that have died, just wondering if its possible to find what their names were as unfortunately they would have been born / died before the mothers maiden name was put on the records.

Thank you

They were married in Chesterfield Sept ¼ 1897. If you search FreeBMD for deaths in Chesterfield District from March 1898 to March 1911 there are 13 deaths of (Barley)children, five of these are probably the ones, but there is no way, unless you get the certificates, to know which ones.

You could also try to see if any appear in the 1901 census and are not in the 1901 census, you might be able to eliminate a couple this way.

But without the death certificates it will not be easy.  You will not require Birth Certificates as the death certificate will give you all the information you require.

Have had to do this several times myself.

nice one thank you their father was called Peter and one of the other children had the middle name of May so I suppose those could be them, also a William Barley was born in 1899 (the same year John William died).

thank you
