Born today in 1922, my dad at Egham

He was son of a baker and his mother was a dressmaker. In the war he served in the RAF as a wireless operator. He worked as a buyer and in marketing for BAT for many years, taking early retirement in about 1980.
In retirement he was much involved in the local residents association, the social events thrived under his running, and his real passion was gardening, running his garden and three allotments.
His produce was shared as was his knowledge and enthusiasm

Always strong - until the end

Dad died on 18th December 2013 aged 91

Uncle George was born on this date in 1910...He was shot in both feet in Dunkirk in WW2. He was a Station Master at King's Cross. A Roman Catholic, he dedicated his life to the church and worked with the disabled and disadvantaged children until he was in his early 90s for which he was presented with Maunday Money from the Queen. He died in April last year aged 103 years. He lead a pauper's existence yet left £72,000 to 3rd world charities. God Bless!

On 28 January 1892 Branson Bangle, my husband's 2 x great grandfather, died at Harston, Cambridgeshire, aged 75.  He was a tailor and married twice, first to Susan Patman, mother of Emma, my husband's great grandmother.  When she died aged only 34, he married Mary Brazier.

Remembering my dad who was born on this day 84 years ago.  He my be gone but not forgotten.
