On 13 January
In 1824 William Conquest, mentioned yesterday, was buried at St John the Evangelist, Westminster, London.
In 1773 a 3 x g.g uncle, John Crowsley, was born in Kempston, Bedfordshire, son of Edward and his second wife Mary, nee Britain.
In 1860 my great grandparents Robert Marshall and Mary Ann Baker were married at St Mary's Church, Lewisham. According to the marriage certificate Robert was a pork butcher, although in 1871 and 1881 he is listed as a warehouseman. By 1891 he was a printer's porter, possibly because by then my grandfather Samuel was employed as a printer's reader at a newspaper. I was also interested to see that Mary Ann was a milliner, because that is what her granddaughter, my mother, became.
