I have been away so missed a few. I'll just add the more direct ones now....

 ....January 26th 1821, my 5 x great-grandfather, James Martin, died at Damhead of Orrock.

 .....January 28th 1768, 6 x great-grandfather, John Chrichton died in Methlick.

 ...... January 28th 1961, my little sister was born. I remember the day very clearly. I was nine and a half and not even remotely interested in having a baby in the house! And, what's more, I have just carried her birthday card to Brittany and back in my suitcase. Ooops!

January 29th, 1885, my great aunt, Roseanna Smith was born in Middlesbrough, daughter of John Smith and Harriet Knight.

That's it, I am up to date now so normal service can be resumed!

Harry Dawson my husband’s grandfather was born in Hulme, Manchester in 1872.  For some unknown reason on the 1881 census, the family are shown with Harry's maternal gran’s maiden name.  He was even registered at school in 1879 under the wrong name.   I don’t think they were in debt and hiding from debtors as his father was never out of work and in 1881 not only did they have his father working, he also had his mother’s half sister aged 19 living with them who was also in work.  I wonder if it was the half sister who didn’t want to be found, although on the census she did give her real name.  By 1891 they had reverted back to their real name of Dawson.

Eva Willis my aunt was born in Manchester in 1916.  She and my uncle married on 27 January 1940.

Thomas Woodward my 3 x g.g.uncle was baptised at St Laurence Church, Frodsham, Cheshire in 1775.   Unfortunately, he died in September of the same year.

Esther Postlethwaite my 4 x g.g.aunt died  in Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire in 1756 aged about 10 months.

On Sunday 29th January 1769, Marion Tweedie, the first child and eldest daughter of my 4xG grandparents Robert Tweedie and Margaret Somerville was born in Carnwarth, Lanarkshire. Neither myself nor my good friend and fellow RootsChatter, Meg, who shares this line and to whom I am indebted for much of my Tweedie information, can find out much about her mother. Marion married a farmer, John Trevit, predeceased him and lies with him and two of their children in Carnwarth.

No monarch, from James VI to the present queen, would have sat on a throne but for the fact of this birth in this place.

It is indeed Skoosh, I thought much the same when walking through it. I felt a definate pull to Lithgae and visited several times last summer and will again this year.

Joshua Joyce married Mary Chitty today at St Mary's Guildford, Surrey in 1697. They were both from Godalming though and my 6 x great granparents.
He was a baker who leased the building facing the market house in 1700 - where the famous pepperpot is today. This (the bakery) is now Godalming museum. Mary is unfortunately a mystery. Chitty is one of the commonest names in Godalming. I have not manage to trace her.

Another marriage took place today between John Wheeler and Mary Seymour in 1687 in Newent, Gloucs. John was a mason who in 1701 lived in a building called The Lambe in New Street Newent. At the marriage Mary was reported to be of Bromsberrow but have not traced her. They were my 7 x great grandparents

1953, a sad day indeed by the loss of the Princess Victoria in a great storm in the North Channel. One hundred & thirty two people lost their lives on this Stranraer to Larne ferry.,

4 g  Twin Aunts Mary & Isabella Hastie b 29/1/1810 Kirkmichael, Dumfries, daughters of James & Mary Hastie Nee Rogerson. Mary died 23/1/1855 Closeburn Dumfries and Isabella died 18/10/1872 Dumfries.

5g Uncle Alexander Hastie b 29/1/1843 Hutton, Berwickshire, son of David & Helen Cowe nee Sharp.

1st Cousin 2 x R William Young Pringle b 29/1/1865 Hawick, son of John & Mary Pringle nee Young. William died young and a second one was born 14/9/1870 Hawick.

3g Aunt Beatrice Hastie chr 30/1/1841 West Blanerne, Berwickshire, daughter of Thomas & Janet Hastie nee Falconer.

1st Cousin 4 x R Margaret Hastie b 30/1/1863 Chirnside, Berwickshire, daughter of Robert & Janet Hastie nee Wood.

John Conway Case my uncle (married to one of my mother’s sisters) was born in Manchester 1902.

Margaret Postlethwaite my 3 x g.g.aunt was born in St Cuthbert, Aldingham, Lancashire, in 1790.  I posted her burial on 6 Jan, when she was 10 years old.

William Stanton my 1st cousin 5 times removed was baptised in New Sleaford, Lincolnshire in 1807

Frances Howard my husband’s g.g.aunt was baptised at St Peter’s Church, Liverpool in 1831

Eliza Mumby my 2 x g.g.aunt  was buried 30 January 1818 in St Boltolph’s Church, Boston, Lincolnshire aged 4.  We'll meet her again tomorrow where she has another anniversary.

John Uffindel my 7 x g.grandfather was buried at Holy Trinity Church, Haddenham, Cambridgeshire in 1711/12
