I've just discovered the 'calendar' on my FH programme only picks out birthdays
I don't know which FH program you have.  I have Legacy and the only way I've found to get births, baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials is to go to Search, then click on Search and Replace.  From there I click on Dates - Births, then put in the date 21 Jan for instance and start.  If it finds anything I just make a note of it and then press skip and it goes to the next item.  Then I repeat the exercise for baptisms, deaths, burials and marriages (which for some reason are further down on the search list).  I'm sure there must be a quicker way of doing it - any Legacy experts out there?

When I've got my list for the day, I then bring them up individually on Legacy and add anything of interest, including their relationship to me.

On FTM 2011 you can go into publish >> other >> calendar.  From there you can select immediate family or whole tree and change settings as to what is displayed.

Today, in 1818, my 3x gt grand uncle Alexander Frew was born in Dreghorn, ayr.

In 1826, my 4x gt grand uncle John Reeve married Ann Langridge in Honingham, Norfolk

Lizzie,

For Legacy go to reports on top bar, click all reports, under miscellaneous reports click calendar list report, tick whichever month you want and preview....this brings up all marriages, births and bap/chr for each day in that month........unfortunately not the deaths and burials!

Thanks Terry, I just tried that, but I think the way I do it is quicker for a day by day list.

Family Historian has birthdays pre-programmed as a Query, but you can then readily set up your own Custom Queries for marriages, deaths, whatever. I have used Custom Queries for all sorts of other things!

My 5 X Great grandfather John BOND died in Denton Lancashire in 1806

At his marriage in 1758, John was from Tatham in the Forest of Bowland in the North of Lancashire.

Of his six children, I only have baptisms for two, at Manchester Cathedral.
John settled in Denton where he was described as a yeoman and steel mill cutter. Subsequent Bonds were hatters, the commonest occupation there.
John left a will and together with death duty document listed his surviving sons.

My Cousin Janice b 22/1/1959 Edinburgh now living in New Zealand.

1st Cousin 4 x R Thomas Haliburton son of James & Isabella Haliburton nee Hastie m Isabella Bruce 22/1/1869 Lauder Berwickshire.

2g Uncle James Burn Roxburgh b 22/1/1889 Peebles, son of John & Sarah Roxburgh nee Burn.

James was working on a farm helping with the threshing when he managed to fall into the threshing mill and got his leg badly cut. He was taken to one of the farm cottages where an old woman cleaned his leg using water straight from a water barrel, as a result the leg became septic and had to be amputated.

In 1693, my 8x gt grand aunt Judich Dubock was born in Canterbury

In 1857, Godfrey Schmidt, my 1 cousin 4x removed was born.  He was part of a confusing web of families who intermarried and shared names.
