Stuck in my tracing roots- can anyone help please?
« on: Monday 31 December 12 13:31 GMT (UK) »
HI
I have traced my ancestor to a George Henry Mott died 26th June 1909 married Mary Catherine
Quill (De Longford ) born Killarney Ireland 1840. On 15th October 1859 Islington  London 4B page 431 last quarter. the  marriage certificate gives father as William Mott. The 1861 Census gives a George Henry Mott and Mary Mott at 63 Beresford Street Newington with a baby Mary who died 1862. The marriage certificate gives George Henry Mott address as 4 Portland Place . It gave Mary Quill address as 3 Barnsbury Place.
I cannot crack Mother and Father of George Henry Mott and neither can I track the couple  in 1871 census records ( 1961 and 1881 OK) along with children Sarah 1865, William H. 1867 and Agnes G 1871.
Any help would be appreciated - happy new Year to all
Derek Mott

Derek, how old was George when he married Mary? And what were George and William's occupations?

I think the witness names are Emmeline Novemia Mott and Sarah Pond Bird?

On the marriage cert both George and his dad William were warehousemen.

So that would make Emmeline step-mother to George Henry?

In 1851 there is an 11 year old George Mott born London at a school in South Mimms.

So that would make Emmeline step-mother to George Henry?

He was born in 1840 so she's his mum surely?
