My family 1.John Laing ( married  1908 d.1953) Cannot find a birth .can anyone help?) to Mary elizabeth Stewart were my Grandparents. My mother Margaret Elizabeth Laing b 11/06/1916 :-\ :-\
John Laing s parents were john laing (B 06.10.1839 m.21 02 1862 d.1917 and mary Gray(b.1843?)
m 21. 02.1862 d.08.07.1901.
3. john Laings parents were William Laing and Helen Balsillie
4. Mary Gray s parents were Robert gray and Henrietta Paterson

Lorna, what was the age of John Laing when he married Mary Stewart in 1908? Given the marriage year of his parents of 1862, he must have been relatively older.

There is this entry for example, for a birth of John to parents with these names https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XYT5-YD3

Have you managed to find any census info? What was the occupation of John born c. 1839?

Some have John Laing junior born 1885 Arbroath Angus , so the first John may have died.
Deceased Online has -                                                                                                                                              Laing , Mary Gray died 8th July 1901 , buried 11th July 1901 Arbroath Eastern Cemetery.
Laing , John died 18th Feb. 1917 , buried 21st Feb. 1917 Arbroath Eastern Cemetery

I' looking for a background for Jane Laing, born around 1852 in Fife. She married George Younger. Is it possible that she is related to these Laings and, if so, how?
