if you're visiting the Record Office, remember to book  as you don't want to travel and then find there's no room or it's the first week of the month and the office isn't open to the public.

You can search on the indexed FamilySearch and then look up the record with the date of events. Search for say, Cruzelier, any event in Cornwall, there's a page or so of results in Penzance and Paul
including more variants - Crusilievre, Crusilear https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http://www.familysearch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1473014

Could this be your Jane?

Thanks for the heads up on Truro, Osprey! Will put a 'booking' on my to-do list!

That Jane could be the one, except with a marriage in 1740 that would make her 37 at the time of her marriage. Then she went on to have six children the last one being a baptism in 1751. Not impossible I guess. I need to find out when William Hoskin, her spouse, was born. That may help.

Thanks a heap!

finding a William Hoskin is easier said than done, rather a common name in the area.

Aren't they all? If I never see another Elizabeth, Thomas, William and Mary again....I'll be more than happy. Apologies to anyone with those names!  ;D

another thought is that Jane may have been a widow at the time of her marriage?

the family is in the area from at least the 1690s, it's just a convincing baptism for Jane that is elusive. And it's a name that lends itself to variants.

Hi,

You may find this book of interest:-

An account of the families of Boase or Bowes, originally residing at Paul and Madron in Cornwall; and of other families connected with them by marriage, etc. (1876).

Only one Gruzelier, Frederick John  on Page 21  - but did not download PDF!
I do not find the search engine very good, so I always download PDF for the books.

The connection is:-

There are other books re Cornwall on www.archive.org

Enter Cornwall Parish Registers   or  Cornwall.
