Family bible needs to united with family - BARBER,
« on: Saturday 29 December 12 15:13 GMT (UK) »
I have the family bible of my Grand Auntie's husband, Luther BARBER. His family was from Lincolnshire.

I'd very much like to unite it with someone who has a stronger connection to the family.

I'll be happy to verify family names via private message if you think you may have a connection.

Hi Andy

Just a suggestion, have you tried tracing the family line down to a living person it might be possible to contact someone via ancestry or other sites if they are interested in their family tree.

I've some old photos I've tried to reunite but so far been unsuccessful.

I think it's a lovely thing you are doing, by trying to unite it.

I managed to do just that through the Australian board on RootsChat with an old bible my friend and I found in a local shop. We traced the family forwards as well as backwards, and posted whatever information was allowable on RootsChat.

The bible is now in the hands of the great grandaughter of the original couple who owned the bible, because she found the RootsChat thread. Some other cousins also got in touch through the thread.
So maybe its worth considering doing something similar.

Good luck Andy.

There are some trees with a Luther Barber, born c1877 in Lincolnshire, who married Emma Jane Cousins in 1908. Does this sound familiar?

There are five trees on Ancestry with Luther and one has a picture of his and Emma's grave.

Only one seems to be owned by a Barber who is descended from Luther's great grandfather, Joseph Barber.

Luther's war service record is also on the site, and mentions Emma as his wife, but you would need a subscription to see the details, or a free trial.

David

P.S. The grave is only for Emma - 31st May 1948
