Yes definitely Ethel Ann Warburton who had son Frank in 1916.
It doesn't look like there's a missed generation.
Can't be the other David as he was still at home in 1901.
Ethel Ann Warburton & David Burgess married in 1898.
Mar.1898/Newcastle L/6b/73
He appears to be the son of David & Sarah but you might have to get their marriage cert.

Thankyou Chaps  :)

From my research I believe that David is the son of David and Sarah, from Bignall End (Ravens Lane)

All I can confirm is that David was the father of Fred (who worked with him at the Minnie -  http://northstaffsminers.btck.co.uk/TheMinniePitHalmerend) and Frank who was my Grandad and My Great Aunt Ethel, who unfortunately passed away last year...

I am certain that David & Sarah are my Great GREAT Grandparents, but with so many Burgess's in the area I have been unable to get much further.

I find its only right to pass on what I can find as I have a 18 month old son (Noah David Burgess) who is the only male Burgess (to my brothers jealousy  :-\).

Again thankyou for your help and time....  :)

I had missed a Generation....

Id gone straight to my great GREAT Grandparents (David Burgess & Sarah Hollins).

So as it stands I'm almost certain it goes like this...

David M Burgess (my father) (1937 - 2007)
Frank Burgess (my grandfather) (1916 - 2004)
David Burgess - my great grandfather (1873 - 1918, killed in the Minnie Pit)
& then David Burgess (1848 - ?!? ) (married to Sarah Hollins - 1868 in Wolstanton).

Im doing some more digging via the FREE resources and found that David Burgess (1848) was the son of somebody with the surname Shufflebotham... Interesting :)

Any keen diggers around that could possibly offer assistance on how many Davids I can get onto 1 family tree?!? lol

David who was to marry Sarah Hollins is showing in 1851 as the son of a William and Mary Burgess.William showing as born in Audley in c 1827.Mary shows as born in Barthomley Cheshire in c 1828.
HO107/2001/631/29.

These are almost certainly the William Burgess and Mary Shufflebotham who married at Newcastle St George in 1845.

Hi

I have not found any connections to the Burgess family but I have both Farringtons and Hollins, the Farringtons originate from Barthomley but later moved to Audley and Chesterton.  Who are the Farringtons on your tree?
Farrington, Barthomley, Cheshire
Anna Maria Williams, Chesterton, Newcastle, Staffs
Edward Thomas Williams Illegitimate born 4/01/1906

Nancy Farrington was my Grandmother.

She married Frank Burgess and went on to have David (my dad), Susan and Christopher.

Hope that helps?

I understand she had a cousin (or my dad did) named Ivor Farrington from Chesterton also

Hello Ian
I too am a newbee at this. The Burgess name caught my eye. There's probably no connection but my great grandmother(x4) was born approx. 1800. Her name was Sarah Burgress and was born in Audley Newcastle-Under Lyme. Not sure if this is the same Audley.
She married Samuel Lawton in 1825 in the St. James church.

Hi Ian

I do have a Nancy Farrington on my tree and I also have Susan Farrington and am in touch with one of your other relatives as this is where I got the information about Susan Farrington from.  However I don't seem to have an Ivor but this does not mean to say he was not related. I will have to look into this further.  Will let you know when I have more information.
