I have to agree with Irene!
While I know that the site needed "modernising" and alot of work went into it, for the other RC boards, its a matter of getting used to it but the restoration board is unique. Its one, if not the most, popular boards and brings in lots new members... you only have to see how many posts people do before making a request to know that is true. If the restorers are finding it difficult to work with the way the photos are being presented, it will limit which ones they chose to work on. The present format of postage size images before clicking on it is not good, its bad on the eyes.
The members and restorers love looking at all the work that has been been done, having to click on each image is ridiculous.
And getting back to Sarah's comments oncomparing it with the BBC website, well, as a member of their forums for nearly 10 years, I can tell you the backlash when they changed to this kind of format was huge! but you can't fight a corporation and most of the forums were being phased out... Just because the BBC did it, doesn't make it the right way to go. I know other sites do the same thing, but they also use their side space for flashing adverts. Not something I would like to see on RC. Its all to do with revenue spinning.
This board aside, the long tall fonts are just plain silly when you have huge swathes of grey either side of the center panel! There are far too many different types of fonts being used... not a good image for quality branding.
