have you noticed any differance in the ammount of post and request for help its all become a bit complicated to use not so easy to navigate round the site

Harrywrag,

Yes, we have noticed a very encouraging difference.

We are looking at various figures and there are less people leaving as soon as they land on the site (it's called 'bounce rate'), the number of 'pages per person' looks at has doubled. The amount of time on site has gone up considerably, and the number of topics and replies is in the top-five for this month (in other words we had five individual days in the last month with more topics/replies - so we've better than most of the days this month). We've also seen an increase in people using mobile devices (mobiles/tablets).

Yes, but Trystan, most of this month has been on the 'old' layout.   :)  :)
So it's not really an indicator of what people think of this new layout.
Except to see the thousands of looks at this particular post!!  All within just a few days.

Hope you have recovered some of your lost sleep   :)  :)  :)

Just one small plea - please could the 'unread', 'replies', and 'Logout' be more spaced out along the bar ?

On small touch screens it's too easy to hit Logout when you really wanted to see replies.

Cheers Trystan  :)

A few hours into the new look I had a very quick sneak peek and thought eeeeek! then had to leave town for a couple of days without being able to really look about and I understand there's been the odd tweak.
I've now taken the time as a guest to read and absorb 56 pages of this thread and getting myself adjusted to the visual impact and ready to settle in.
A couple of observations I don't recall being commented on, the blue background as well as a padlock on locked threads, easier to notice.
Guests can now see which users are online and their lights showing and also now able to use the search facility, I don't think they were available to guests before although they could see the list of users and guests ... which now has the addition of most online today/ever.
I've often used the previous 'started by' column as a quick search for users when they're not online, especially ones who frequent certain boards, not so easy to do now the OP's name is under the topic but that's not actually a problem as there are other ways.
Home page is so different with pictures but is probably more welcoming or at least interesting to a newbie  :)
So all in all, in my quick flick, it gets a big tick  :D

Happy Christmas and another Happy Birthday RootsChat

Hi

Under the old pm system there was a facility to set the pm system to ignore incoming messages from selected users.
That has now been removed by being amended to "Admins only" or ALL?

I'd echo that, Nick.  Even on my laptop screen, I nearly logged myself out yesterday by mistake!
Maybe LOGOUT would be better at the end of the line?  ???

I have not been on Roots for a few days and having just logged on and what a surprise.  Trystan and his colleagues have been very busy indeed. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Will have to trundle around it for a few days to get to grips with it.

Merry Christmas

We are aware of a few problems.
The brown (or "red") tall squashed font is not ideal for some.
There are some issues with Windows Explorer 8 users.
File attachments getting compressed.
(There is a bigger list, but that's just for me to see!)

These (amongst other things) are things I will be looking into to try and fix- but this will have to be after the Christmas period now. I've not even wrapped Sarah's presents yet...

In the mean time  -  hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break!
Trystan
