Sarah, I have replied to your PM, thank you :)

:-[Apologies for my earlier rant :-[  I am now certain that the posts are less bright than they were! They must be as I did not have a headache or the 'drawing' eyes yesterday! 8) So I must say thank you for putting that right so promptly :D :D

I am sure that, given time, I WILL get used to the new format. (I am getting there!) So I must see the error of my ways and say a big THANK YOU to Sarah and Trystan for all their hard work, and for everything that they do and have done in the past, to keep such a great forum and all its world wide family happy!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

"The feel of the site hasnt changed"

I think it has changed a lot.  It is ugly and hard to read but I'll live with it.

I don't think its really harder to find your way around once you get used to where things are now, it's just that it looks so totally different.

I notice a lot of people are commenting that it's hard to read, that can't be a coincidence. I wonder if any thought was given to the fact that a lot of users are "older" , as vision does change as you age. The brown and reddish pink colours seem pretty unusual for a website, and I wonder if that's because of the readability issues. I don't think I've come across one from a major company or organisation that uses them.

Any vision experts around? I hope Rootschat hasn't overlooked accessibility issues.

One question though as the site uses cookies where is the legal warning that is now required to fit in with EU law?

The EU cookie directive consent is there - but if you clicked it in the past you won't see it again.

Wow, shocked is not the word, I thought I had typed in the wrong website address !!  Have a lot more looking and "playing" to do before I come to a decision on whether it is an improvement or not.

However, I'd like to say thank you to Trystan and Sarah for their continuing hardwork regarding the site and, whatever, my final thoughts on the layout it won't stop me coming here to follow other people's stories and ask for help and opinions.

The colors don't bother me but the layout is cluttered and it is less easy to quickly scan down the list of new posts.

Harrywrag,

Yes, we have noticed a very encouraging difference.

We are looking at various figures and there are less people leaving as soon as they land on the site (it's called 'bounce rate'), the number of 'pages per person' looks at has doubled. The amount of time on site has gone up considerably, and the number of topics and replies is in the top-five for this month (in other words we had five individual days in the last month with more topics/replies - so we've better than most of the days this month). We've also seen an increase in people using mobile devices (mobiles/tablets).
