As I noted before, the 10 posts/per page default size was chosen after receiving advice that this was optimal for performance (page loading).

I've changed mine back to 10, I didn't realise I'd altered it. It must have been when I was fiddling about the other day.  ;)

The more I use the new layout, the more I like it.

This is the error message I get.  Notice the URL at the top and the "done" on the bottom Left hand corner.  I might add this is only happening with Roots Chat Forum in Internet Explorer, every other favourites I click on opens normally. And Roots Chat Forum open normally for me in Fire Fox.

I've tried everything, deleted temp files, cookies & cache, restored to a previous time, re-booted, ....... this one has me stumped!!!!

Notice the URL at the top
You say this is from your favourites. Does this mean the URL in your favourites is exactly that which we see here, or has something been added by the browser ?

My suggestion is to edit the address bar to remove the PHPSESSID.... up to and including the & and try again. If that works, store the new URL in your favourites.

I've calmed down now I can find my way around again and am getting used to the new look :)
The only problem is the colour of topic titles when you click on unread - I find it difficult to focus on and interesting topics are now hard work to find, it actually hurts my eyes and makes me feel slightly sick. Interestingly where the pinky-red colour is against a slightly darker background when it is a locked topic it's fine. I notice others have mentioned this problem.

Redmr2red - your error of a blank screen.

The error message points to the mobile site, so I'm guessing it was after trying the mobile version.

Can you please paste this link into that browser and let us know what happens:

WOW  I am up and at them again, thanks to all your help Bob and Trystan and co.

I didnt want to delete all my cookies, so ended up doing a system restore, and that seems to have sorted it.  Whew, lets hope it now stays OK.   One thing I wont be doing is pressing mobile again.

The feel of the site hasnt changed but the fonts are horrible.  Looks great on mobile however the PC fonts come up way to large.  I wont complain about the layout though as this will take time to get used to it.  I guess after 9 years of no change (including a short period where Sarah kicked me off here :p) it was inevitable that I wouldnt be 100 per cent happy.  One question though as the site uses cookies where is the legal warning that is now required to fit in with EU law?

This 'NEW' web-site lay-out
« Reply #539 on: Sunday 23 December 12 14:50 GMT (UK) »
Sorry,

Call me what-ever you like - no offence intended - BUT
this 'NEW' web-site lay-out is really, really confusing !!

Call it 'my advancing years' - ( looking forward to my OAPension at the end of the year ... )
but you have 'FIXED' what wasn't BROKEN !!!!!

The original format was OK - simple to use - so WHY CHANGE IT ????

Totally confused !!!! ( and this is BEFORE opening the bottle of Bells !!! )

Is this about keeping Web-site designers usefully employed ???????

Will try to get past Christmas with that bottle of Bells and a bottle of Coke
and try again to understand it in the New Year - hopefully ???

Sorry, I had to say this.....

Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year to you all

Mick
