Um, something has happened since my last visit (last night Australian time). I'm sure I read about 28 pages of this thread and now it is back to 16.
Ruskie, there is a setting in your profile settings that changes the number of messages per page. The options are 5, 10, 25 or 50. I think 10 is the default (mine is set to 10 and I have 40-odd pages. The result of changing that would be a difference in the number of pages required for the entire thread. Could that be the reason?

Brilliant, ReadyDale!

I was beginning to wonder how different computers could show page 42 or page 17, so I just went to my profile, found the drop down and changed my settings from 10 per page default to 25 per page.

Came to this thread again, and voila, I'm on Page 17.

Just for information:

The default of 10 replies per page was chosen as optimal for loading and accessing.
More replies per page means that it takes longer to load and and you have to scroll more often.

As a tip for reading long topics: use the "Print" button :)

Hi
Here is my message about the new site (I put it in the wrong thread to start with - thanks Berlin Bob for letting me know).

Quote
Whoa. Just logged on and got a shock! I wondered if I'd found a different website with the same name for a minute.

I was glad to find it isn't... same interesting posts, same offers of help and look-ups, same friendly people, same lovely hosts

I am finding the new design hard to read  *ducks* (sorry Tristan). Some of the text is too small, and the font used on the titles is too narrow. I'm meant to have good eyesight but maybe it's time to get booked in for a check up (but then I do use a MackBook so a smaller screen than a large desktop). It's affecting my eyes already so I may find I come on less (PM me instead as I'll get an email).

Please don't think I'm complaining to annoy, it's just my opinion, and I realise change will be an improvement for the majority of users as well as all the technical mumbo jumbo that I don't understand

Hi all, not sure if Ive found a problem but there does not seem to be a "Modify" button on the posts,

Top right of the post you wish to modify. Beside the 'quote' button.

It also appears bottom right of my posts above the IP adress and the "report to moderator" button, looks bit like a pencil on a triangular piece of paper.  It may depend on which browser you are using.

If I modify a post using the pencil et al icon, then it appears by quote, but you need to click the logo in the bottom for it to appear.  Mind you if I use this shortcut, I don't get the option to add an emotive icons.  If I then click modify, then they appear as an option, seems to be one is a full modify and one is just to modify text. ???

No MODIFY button showing up for me either on my posts. Using latest Firefox. Nothing there in IE either.

The MODIFY button has shown up with the post just done, but is not on any of my previous posts anywhere.

Ooooh, haven't logged on for a while and what a lovely surprise.  The new format looks fantastic - very easy to read.

The only thing bugging me is the new logo ... out of the corner of my eye it looks like a black spider is sitting on my screen.   :o   I'm sure I'll get used to it.   ;D

Thanks for all the hard work that's gone in to the changes.

*Off Topic* What does everyone think of the new layout?

Very swish, but I had to re login to get to post.  Is it easier to use, those who've already had a good look around?  Or is it purely cosmetic - or has it made it worse??

The poor appearance of the smaller red-brown font seems to be (for me) on Google CHrome and that at least appears OK on Firefox
