Hello Trystan

I felt  :( to read that you had been hurt and de-moralised by some of the comments about the new

set-up.

Never fear - I'm sure we will all get used to it in double quick time  ;) :)

Christmas Greetings to you and yours. Have a good rest. :) :)

I've just replied to a post from earlier this evening on the Essex Board and it's defaulted to the old Rootschat format and doesn't give you any font/icon options. ???

Personally I use the full site view even when viewing on a smartphone, I find the mobile version rather constrained.  Each to their own.

I also appreciate the amount of work that must have gone into change the site, particularly as I work in IT so I know just what it can be like. ;)

Freaked out when I first saw it and thought I was on the wrong site.  There has obviously been a tremendous amount of work put into it but I thought it was fine as it was.  However, I am getting used to the new look.  Just two things I really don't like - the colour of the headings of the recent posts and the very irritating ads part way down the page.  Any chance of them being put at the top or bottom???

I understand there is now a mobile app.  I can't seem to find out how to access it.

I second that Emmeline. I for one really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into sorting out the teething problems Trystan. It is usually the same whenever people are asked anything, those who dont like it or have a complaint tend to comment, those that are happy tend not to.  I think you've done a great job and after the initial shock of seeing the new layout I really like it.

Happy Christmas.

I worked in IT before I retired and went through two or three similar situations to this and I really, really empathise/sympathise with Trystan.  Migrations such as this take months of hard work behind the scenes and the only way to test the new format is to go live.  And of course there are going to be glitches; of course there are going to be a few problems.  But if people can be a bit positive and remember all the hard work that has gone on behind the scenes, it would be helpful.  I can understand why Trystan might feel sad and disappointed about the reaction.  He is probably exhausted because of all the extra work and the stress.  All hail to you Trystan, Sarah, mods and everyone else involved.  I salute you and recognise that you have all been working your butts off to make sure that RC is fit for purpose and ready to scale new heights.  Thank you all for this wonderful facility - I just can never say how much RC has changed my life!

It's different, but it is still Rootschat and probably the best family history site your going to find.
