I know there are a lot of complaints about the font, colours etc, but I quite like the brown. I can see that the thin font may be difficult to read for some, but if it were in the same style font as this (for example), and possibly changed to bold, then that should make it easier to read. I am not sure if this is a simple fix or a big one.  :)

I do find that the point size of the text appears very small in the quote boxes. I am also not a huge fan of the heavy black bars on the sides of the quote boxes, but that is not much of an issue (no one else has mentioned it  ;)).

One of the best new features is the TOP button at the bottom of the page, but I keep forgetting to use it. It's a little bit lost down there in the dark.  ;D

Please get rid of the narrower font in the red brown colour it is awful and looks amateur

I have to agree with Stonechat on this.  Brown doesn't seem too bad for the individual names but not for the titles of threads on the 'unread' page.  The larger one increases the screen the better the font looks but as I prefer to read at a size suitable for my eyes the brown just looks blurry and the font (whichever it is) aggravating........

All the different internet browsers have a setting where you can set preferred fonts and font sizes for the web pages that you view.  Just because the designer of a web page may consider that it's best viewed in Times New Roman and small size, you can still over-ride these choices in the settings of your web browser.  Just click on the Settings tab of the web browser that you are using - this applies to IE, Firefox and Chrome.

Many people on here are not that computer literate Nick.  Are you suggesting that we change the settings for every web page on Roots that we don't like?  Where do I find Settings on Firefox anyway, I can't see it - but then I'm not computer literate. :D

Can I just say that as an oldie with dodgy eyesight, I am having no problem with either colours or fonts. It's all perfectly clear to me.

Hi Nick,

Good idea.  If you would like to help out on this, perhaps you could start a new topic in the Technical Help board. Then others can also join in and we won't go off topic here.

We can then point people to the technical topic.

Thanks,
Bob

The settings you choose will over-ride the fonts on the page, but it won't change text when it's in the form of an image file (so it's really a picture).

On Firefox, you go to Tools >> Options, then choose the Content tab.  This is the setting for Firefox 9 - I don't use Firefox much, so I haven't bothered to upgrade to the latest version.

In most situations like this, Google is your friend  ;)

Re: tracing previous posts by me.  I have done as Sarah suggested earlier (ie)

To find your posts, Click on the "Profile button" at the top of the site, and under your profile picture you will see your posts.

It doesn't work for me as all I am seeing is my profile and an invitation to modify it

When I mentioned this again on reply 152 of this thread Carole, Tristan replied on 155 to say that they were going to work on the problem.  :)

OK, so that answers my question. Hope it gets sorted soon as this is one of the best sites out there, I have recommended it to some friends who are going to start, or restart, researching their family tree.
I tried being normal once, it was the worst 5 minutes of my life!

Sorry, Bob, I read your post after LizzieW's.  I'll put a post in the Tech section ASAP.
