What is the "Send this Topic" for?  I clicked on it and it showed my name as on here, my e-mail address, space for a comment, space for recipient's name and their e-mail address.  Does it mean we can just link a topic and e-mail it to a non Rootschatter?  Did we have this before?

No, at least not so sleek.  I love it, now instead of copying a link, getting my email up, paisting it.... yada yada yada, I can just click on "send this topic" and send it to someone if I think it's an interesting topic or whatever  ;D

Hi - Well done to all the techy folk on the upgrade. Looks like it was a big job and it seems to work pretty much the same as the old one so I am sure people will quickly get used to it.

I have been checking it all out and am used to it already.

There has been some mention of the grey borders being a waste of space...well - if like some of us you can't read the small font (especially the squashy font some people have mentioned which I have to agree is causing a few problems) - you can do Ctrl + and increase the size of the main page to almost fill the screen- using space where the grey borders are.

Just one thing I spotted not working - which was when I tried the shrink a link link... but I imagine you guys know about that and it is on your to do list.

And - has anyone spotted the lovely search box at the top of the page next to the login bit...very handy!

Embrace the change ;D ;D ;D ;D

Mods have probably picked it up, but a couple of links still go to old style pages. London Lookup requests and Kent Lookup requests.

Is there anywhere we can post truly trivial stuff that could be sorted at your leisure Tristan?

I mention only because I have noticed some truly minor issues that probably do not merit an actual complain. The "[/sub]" at the end of my signature is one.

What "[/sub]" at the end of your signature ??

Only joking: I've just edited your signature for you :)

but this blessed "Contact Support" hanging over my post, is driving me nuts

Couldn't agree more - it's doing my head in as well.

The contact support button is large because if anyone is having problems it will be over the next day or two whilst we fix the little problems like the smilies.

Has anyone dare click on it yet to see what happens?  ;D ;D ;D

It is just a means of sending an e-mail to RootsChat when you can't contact us any other way. This is a standard "Contact Us" feature, mainly for people who have problems logging in and need to contact us for help, or for others who need to contact RootsChat but don't want to register.
(If you need help and can login, then you can contact a moderator by PM)

It will be moved to the bottom of the page when everything is more stable and has settled down.

regards
Bob
