I like the alternating colours too.  Trystan will be pleased that we're beginning to get used to the changes and it's not 24 hours yet.   Still don't like the colours on the different Forum boards, they make my eyes sore.

I also like the new search, without having to think of lots of words that might have been in the title of a topic I wrote in or started many months back, I just typed in the words I could remember and pressed search - I didn't fill in user, dates or anything else and up popped loads of possible topics.  I've tried it 3 times now, each time with different words and it works every time.

The one thing I am finding difficult is the grey background,the type doesn't appear jet black and my eyes don't like it.This may be a problem for older eyes

I agree. It may be because the members name and stars etc on the left are so dominant compared to the content of the message. I have only been on here for a few minutes, looking around, and my eyes are not happy. I will persevere.

Hi all doing all the hard work in the background, are there real problems with forum via mobile? As I am currently typing I still have mid right/ upper "Contact Support" and my normal ways of viewing my posts via profile are not available.

I know only a blip, and thanks for all your endeavours!

Top of the page, on the left, above the roots tree logo.  Unread for unread posts; replies for replies to posts.
Not initially noticeable.

I like everything BUT the thumbprints on the Photo Restoration board. It is now impossible to see any photos unless one clicks on the thumbprint and waits for it to download, then we have to do the same thing again on every response. Very time consuming and not nearly as fast and user friendly as the old way.
I visit many restoration sites and this is the only one that has this method . Some have thumbprints but will enlarge as soon as you hover the mouse over it . Much faster.

Sorry Trystan after all your hard work, am I the only one brave enough to say I don't like the new website?    Please return the print to black on the topic boards, the colour (whatever it is called) is very hard to read.  Usually I scan through the list of Unread Topics to see if there are any I'm interested in, but I gave up today as the different font colours and sizes on a bluish-grey background made it difficult to read through quickly.  Also I don't know if it is my laptop, but there is a grey stripe either side of the web page.  I can get rid of it by increasing the font size to a ridiculously large size but that's obviously not the answer.

I'm more or less in agreement Lizzie.  Tall spidery capitals aren't the best fonts to use where my old eyes are concerned - colours also affect whether or not I can see the writing clearly. 
I can tell a heck of a lot of hard work has gone into the new look - but amidst the shock when I first surfed in was the immediate thought that the site had been hijacked lol   

The black bottom part of the page would look well in a funeral parlour -and the writing's too small for me to see without squinting.

One thing about having a popular site  = You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time
