Trystan and Sarah don't need me to answer for them but...
I imagine most of the real changes to the site have been behind the scenes, bringing the technology up to date. I've had a few quick looks around the site and with one exception,* everything that worked well before works just as well and in a very similar way to before. As for the different colours, fonts etc - it's often good just to refresh things from time to time and soon you won't even notice the difference. Personally I like the fonts and colours.
Having the information in a central page set against a background is a very normal solution these days, and ensures that the page displays correctly on a wide range of screens.
* The exception is the way the photos display in the restoration section -having to click on a thumbnail and then getting a picture constrained by scroll bars isn't a step forward, in my opinion but, again, it won't take long to get used to it and there may be good technical reasons why this was felt necessary.
