Late to the party ... reading 35 pages is a little onerous at this point ...
Generally, I hate it. Far too much wasted space on pages, calling for too much scrolling. (For instance, there is no need for the left-hand column with usernames and avatars to be so wide: everything in that column could be smaller, freeing up more monitor width for the actual content, which is what people are interested in.)
One specific query.
In the "England (Counties as in 1851-1901)", there is now a big ugly "NEW" beside each child board that has unread posts. There is no need for this, since which boards have new posts can be seen at a glance: the link is in boldface font, while the link for a board with no unread posts is in regular font. I only read a few boards, generally, so this county listing is littered with pointless "NEW"s for me permanently now.
I prefer to eliminate unnecessary graphics from what I see on the monitor, to do away with the visual distraction and increase the space available for content. (That goes for the big fancy graphic at the top of RootsChat now -- except that while I've managed to get rid of the graphic content itself, I'm left with a white space the same depth that I can't eliminate.)
Could the "NEW" graphic not just be eliminated from the county listings under England etc., and anywhere else where it is obvious from the link itself whether or not it has been visited since there was something new added?
