PLIMMER in Barrow
« on: Wednesday 19 December 12 15:00 GMT (UK) »
familysearch has:
name:   James Plimmer
event:   Census
event date:   1911
gender:   Male
age:   27
birthplace:   Barrow In Furness, Lancashire
record type:   Household
registration district:   Barrow In Furness

but trying to locate in 1911 on ancestry builds a brick wall - can hardly find any of them in previous census too on that site - argh! :o

Dear Plimmerian,

I subscribe to two other sites and found the following which could be your family.

1901 Census - Property 146 Mechanics Row, Newport, Shropshire
Charles (born 1861) Coal Miner - Hewer/ Mary (b. 1855) Wife / James (b. 1884) Coal Miner- Franksman / Rosetta (b.1885) / Alice (b.1889) / Mary (b.1892) / Edwin (b. 1893)

In the 1911 Census the property was described as 146 Mechanics Row, 146 Oakengates Road, Donnington Wood, Newport Shropshire. Five occupants were listed, the two parents, James (son), Mary (Daughter) Edwin (son). The two James were still listed as Coal Miner - Hewer.

However all these were born in Shropshire, so if your James was born in Barrow in Furness this is probably not your family !

Regards,

fifthwheel

found the 1901 census page by browsing districts - search facility doesn't work - even tried the following searches of people on the same page: Samuel Highton born Derby aged 56; Thomas Graham born Barrow aged 15; finally found using John Reynolds born Sedgley and Plimmer spelt correctly - don't understand!!!

I think the xmas frazzle is kicking in early this year  :o
