The william Hedley Boyd information is correct except the one in the census is the one for the below John George Boyd C. 1877, however the information that you have supplied is for John George Boyd C. 1872 is actually his cousin who was also called John George b. C. 1877 and had the parents of George & Ann.

I know this all looks confusing as the family had a habit of retaining names from previous generations

Now I am puzzled. According to the census information, the one I've supplied information for was born c 1872, not 1877 ? Having checked - the John George Boyd, married to an Elizabeth and born in 1877, appears to have had a son called Richard ?

They were also living in Byker in 1901.

The aforementioned in law from 1901, might have read son-in-law ?

I believe Richard's surname from the 1901 was actually Bell.

All this time I had the wrong John George married to Elizabeth Ann Rowbotham. It makes sense now as his son William Hedley Boyd would have been named after his uncle
