Thank you for the link James, very interesting.

It does look like he was a boy scout, sadly he wouldn't have been one for much longer after the photo was taken, as his father joined the Australian Royal Artillery at the onset of WW1...can't see that Gran would have taken him to scout meetings...bit of a snob was she !
