I thought as much but I don't like 'assuming' when it comes to genealogy and like to get the variants from the people who request them

I presume you didn't find Grasmere passenger list. If the McNicols aren't on this ship the time frame would be between 1849 and 1855 for searching. Thanks

Hello Shanko

Would it be possible to lookup two ship arrivals into South Australia.

(1) "OCEAN CHIEF" departed Plymouth and arrived in South Australia on 7th April 1864.
The passenger I wish to confirm on board this ship is:- BUSH John Ryder from Devon, England. (abt. 19 years old).
(If correct where can I purchase copy of Shipping Record).

(2) Do not know ship name they arrived on in South Australia, but I am looking for:
WILLIAMS Thomas and his wife WILLIAMS Mary Ann (nee Bishop). Possibly from Devon??. I believe time period of arrival would be between 1845-1848. Their first child born in SA was Nov 1848.

If impossible to check 2nd request I thank you for your time.

Cheers
Kabana

Hello Shanko
Thanks for your offer of help.
I'm not having much luck with the online SA passenger lists.  I'm trying to locate ship/arrival dates for Ellen McManus and George Briggs.
From BDM certs Ellen was 21 (from Co Cavan) and George 25 (from Leicestershire) when they married in Mintaro SA in 1857.  She had been in SA for about 1 year and George 5 years before going to NSW.  They had a daughter Rose Anne in Adelaide in 1858.
Ellen's death cert gives her age as 63 in 1903 and that she was 16 when she married. Either she put her age up to travel and marry or her son got the info wrong for the death cert.
The only Ellen that I have found was on the British Empire in 1850 -she was 22 and i don't recognise the other McManus names on that list.  I haven't found any George Briggs'.
Any suggestions as to where I can look?
thanks Chris

Hi Chris,
Have you any idea of when they may have come out to South Australia? I know you state she had been in SA for 1 year before she married but she may not have come straight to SA to start with. The same with George.
I am going to the State records this week and if you have an approx date I will go through the records for you.

I'll try to help locate them for you
