Arranroots,

OOps I didn't finish that last sentence.

I have contacted a friend who will hopefully get back to me soon with the details on these death certificates which will give the time they were in the Commonwealth and the details of the cause of death.
NB: I have had two deaths in the past I have looked for for other people and although the length of residence wasn't put on death certificates until after 1908, the two I found for other people did have that extra information on them.
So you never know. Fingers crossed.

Hey thanks Shanko!  :D

I will add these to Kris' notes and there is quite a big family! Kris found them in the SA Biography book, of that helps.

Not bad for a girl from rural Gloucestershire - but what a set of names!  Can't help wondering what (apart from grinding poverty) took her to Oz, but the girl done good!

Many thanks for your time,

Arranroots  ;)

A word of advice about the SA biographical books, they are not 100% accurate. Many many mistakes have been made with them so I wouldn't take those details too seriously

Hi Shanko!

Would love to take you up on your offer .. if you're not flat strap.

I'm in search of ELLEN ELLIOT.

Birth?
She was born in South Australia circa 1891.
Parents: Mother - Marie Elliot (previously Allwright, nee Durant)
            Father - Henry Elliot

Census?
I believe she was in the 1891.
Do you have that on hand which you could look up please?

Death?
She may have died in Darwin (NT) or returned to SA - anytime after 1933.

Hope you can help me out and thanks for your time.
Cheers  :)

Hi FBD

I'll look into yours tomorrow.
As for the census, South Australia only has the 1841 which you can thank the old premier Don Dunstan for as he was the one who ordered for all other census except the 1841 to be destroyed. His reasons being the later ones have no historical use.  >:(

So no one can help you with the 1861, 1871, 1891 etc census for South Australia

regards

Amazing? It was a totally bad move on his part, he should never of destroyed thos census returns.

I don't know about others states but I think they may have more years than South Australia.

Yes, I should have said astounding. It was a very bad move on his part. BTW thanks for checking all this information. I look forward to hearing if you find any information from the immigration records on Adam Barlow.

Hi Shanko,

I would like to take you up on your offer of South Australian lookups. I don't know whether you will be able to help me -  I am looking for the arrival of Thomas William Palmer and his wife Charlotte Jane Palmer in South Australia. They were married in Exeter County of Devon in September 1865 and their daughter Elizabeth was born in South Australia the next year. They resided in South Australia for 5 years before living in Victoria for the rest of their lives.
I would be most grateful for any information you are able to give me.

Regards,
Alex
