Hope the kind offer is still open

George Whateley Holmes, who later settled in NSW, arrived in Goulbourn 1864 approx.

He worked as a Saddler

Do you have any Ships records for approx 1864, and do you have any naturalisation records for him?

He was born in Birmingham in 1843.

Many THanks

HI

My information is that George arrived in South Australia-  though he must have intially settled in Goulbourn.

Will be glad if you are able to help with ship?

Thanks Bob

Bob,
I'll check tomorrow when I check the other requests for the ship records.
Regarding the naturalisation records, do you know if he was actually naturalised? Also if you do a date would be needed, or an approx date

No I don't know a date
He was later Mayor or Armidale for one year- not sure that means he was naturalised- in the absence of exact information perhaps you should skip this

Dear Shanko

Sorry about the confusion with my post.

Thanks for the information regarding when shipping records started in South Australia.  I will check other states for Charles Hill's arrival in Australia.

Thanks for checking though.  Much appreciated.

Bob, If I was you I'd contact the Armidale council heres the website: www.armidale.nsw.gov.au

Since he was mayor they may have all his details there including time he has been in Australia and also if he was naturalised.

Shanko, Would very much appreciate your time for a lookup in immigration records.

I am looking for James McNicol c1819 Wigton, Cumberland and his wife Mary Dand. They had a son William Grasmere McNicol 'born at sea' 6 Aug 1852 so could have been on the voyage to Australia.

I have discovered that a ship named the Grasmere arrived in Adelaide about 28 Aug 1852.

Hope you can help.................Cazay

I will look into your request in the next week or two. Where did you get the information about the Grasmere arriving in Adelaide in 1852?
I only found this one for starters
Grasmere arrival Hobart 30th Jul 1865 origin: London

Arrival 28 Aug 1852 Grasmere to Port Adelaide from Liverpool found on Perth DPS.

James McNicol was living in Kensington in 1855 so as far as I know he arrived in Adelaide.
