John Price Evans and son William
« on: Monday 10 December 12 15:19 GMT (UK) »
I am helping someone with their tree and we are well and truly stuck.  We have a John Price Evans (no wife name) who had a son William Evans on 8 September 1906.  William therefore would be 5 in 1911 when the census was taken.  William married in 1930 and on his marriage registration is the initial R as a middle name which we now believe to be Reece/Rhys.  With this extra information I once again trawled the 1911 census for a John Price Evans with son William Reece/Rhys but to no avail - unless I am blind !  I am concentrating my search on the county of Glamorgan - Pontypridd area as this is where William's wife was born and brought up.  Has anyone got access to the Glamorgan area parish records/christening records and would be able to look up William's birth/christening for me?  Many thanks to anyone that could assist with this seemingly impossible task.

Marriages March qtr 1906

John Price Evans    Pontypridd  11a 754

When did William die?  His death cert should show his full christian names

Hi,

Is this his death?

William Reece EVANS    Oct-Nov-Dec Q 1983    Ealing    12  0247
DOB: 8 Sep 1906

If so I wonder if the informant got the year of birth slightly wrong. I found this birth that could fit with a 08 September birth as I think they had 6 weeks to register the birth.

William Rees EVANS    Oct-Nov-Dec 1907    Pontypridd   11a  620

If the year 1906 is correct then William would be 4 on the census date of Sunday 02 April 1911, but if the 1907 date is correct then William would only be 3.

I found a matching family on the 1911 census, (we are not allowed to do full 1911 transcriptions here, something to do with copyright) but I suggest you look for  Wm Rees EVANS  age: 3  in  Pontypridd.

If this is the correct family then the marriage found by CaroleW loks correct as the family are living with John's father in-law, Rees EVANS.

Regards,
Daisy

Thank you for your help on this.  The marriage from CaroleW is correct and John Price Evans' wife is Elizabeth EVANS !! - whose father is Rees Evans(as per 1911 census).  You would not believe it though I still cannot find John Price on the 1901 or 1891 census to enable me to go further.  He was born according to the 1911 at St. David's Pembrokeshire.  This has been a most frustrating search made even worse by the bride and groom both being Evans.  It may well be that I will have to give up on John Price Evans as he seems determined to hide away somewhere.  Thanks again

Can we have birthyear/birthplace details for John Price Evans from the 1911 entry please

What occupation is shown for him

It's highly likely he is just shown as John Evans on earlier censuses so we really need additional info to narrow it down.

If there are too many with the same profile - you may need to invest in a copy of that 1906 marriage cert to get his fathers name to try and help narrow it down

I've been trying the free search on the 1911 to get some details on John. Working from age given in index, is this a possible from 1901?
