Hi Kathy,

You might find this post about missing info on NSW certificates useful:

On one of your earlier posts Cando found that the Christian Bible Church was Wesleyan/Methodist.

Hi there,

I see an Alfred E. Weir mentioned in the Barrier Miner article you have of 1891.  I think this may be an ancestor of mine who was in the navy but seems to have vanished after 1893.  Any help would be welcome.  Would be an Alfred Ebenezer Weir b1873.

Best

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

You are probably aware that you can purchase Alfred's Naval Service Record from the UK National Archives.

Thanks Gerry, yes I have this which ends with him being discharged after deserting the navy and found to be in the army - last mention is start of 1896 and then silence.

Thanks again

Tommy

Was he also known as Alfred Edward Weir (Fred) and have 3 daughters, Hilda, Daisy and Gladys because there was a death in the local Newspaper for an Alfred Edward Weir (Fred) on 1st July 1907 at Broken Hill plus him being injured the year before.

Gerry

PS:  Please disregard this post I have now found that Alfred Edward Weir (Fred) whom died on 1st July 1907 was theson of Alfred Weir of Norwood South Australia.
