john a.mclean on s.s.clio training ship

i found a great uncle john a mclean on the 1891 census,he was aged 13 from malahide,dublin,ireland.the s.s. clio was an industrial training ship for boys.does anyone have any information on what happened to these boys after they finished training and how long were they on the ship?i cant seem to track him down after that census.thank you for your help in advance,tom

I've seen an article specifically on the Clio here somewhere....I'll scout around for you. It was written by the local historian based in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Vivian Parry Williams.

This is quite nice  and another lad from Dublin was on the same ship.

My great uncle was aboard the CLIO in 1891, at the time he was living with his mother in Dublin. I am puzzled as to how he went to Wales as he certainly didn’t suffer from this experience, he went on to work at the General Post Office in Dublin. Because he didn’t have a father alive then so maybe he was a handful for his poor mother.
