James Dodds
« on: Sunday 09 December 12 20:24 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of James Dodds - born Morpeth 1837; he married Dorothy Dodds & had a son John Singlewood Doods born 1859;
The family moved to Willington, Co Durham where John was born.
My maiden name was Singlewood but there is some family confusion as to when this name was accepted and Dodds not used!
Anyone with this in their family?

Freebmd shows he married Dorothy Singlewood in 1860

John was born 1859 as John Singlewood as per freebmd

Here's his christening from the IGI

I think Claire has the baptism

In 1841 and 1851 James is living with his grandmother Ann Dodds.

The marriage certificate should confirm if his father is Robert Dodds, a mason - the trade james also followed
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Robert & Jane appear to have also had the following children in Morpeth.  The dates shown are baptismal dates - not birthdates

Robert 20.4.1828
Susannah 4.1.1839
William 22.1.1843
