Isabella Thompson and also Lamberton Toll

Hi all ,

I am searching for the birth of Isabella Thompson born1804 Berwick according to various Cenci.  I'm also looking for her marriage to Joseph  Weatherston, date unknown.

Joseph was a Slater in Northumberland.

I can find this couple in the Cenci but I can't find any births or marriages.

I would love to find Isabella's parents.

If it is her the birth may be Berwick Northumberland England rather than Berwickshire Scotland

Yes that's her.   In the eary Cenci it was written as Berwick.

So......being a displaced Kiwi in Oz:).  I'm not up on border changes etc so
I'm not really sure where she was born but I'm desperate to find out her parents
if possible.  Also when she married Joseph Weatherston.

I have an earlier Isabella Thompson, who married William Claise in 1764 at Hutton, Berwickshire, just a few miles from the Border.  Maybe she was an aunt or otherwise related to your Isabella?  They had 7 children between 1786-1803: George Clazy, John Clazie, William Clazie, Janet Clazie, James Clezie, Archibald Clezie, Agnes Cleasie.  How spelling evolved!

Thanks for the reply.  However there seems to be a real lot of Isabella's and Thompson's in and around Berwick and Berwick on Tweed but Ive not seen them attached to Clazy/Clease at any time.

An Isabella Weatherston died at Berwick-on-Tweed in the first quarter of 1888 aged 84. Must be her. Hopefully her parents' names will be on the death certificate.

I was of the understanding that death Certs only gave the husband's name??
I am happy to purchase the death cert if its probable that her parents' names would be on it.


Can anyone advise, please?

Of course, you're right.  I'm confusing English DCs with Scottish ones.  There could be a son or daughter or other relative named as informant which might just be of some help?

Nope…..no children….only a husband who died before she did.

It would be great if someone had the BDMs for Berwick on Tweed and could search the Births for 1804 then maybe I could find her parents.  I guess I'll just have to wait until they put them online ….or maybe a marriage….
