Help with Army Number and your suggestions please.
« on: Friday 07 December 12 14:13 GMT (UK) »
Dear all,

Could someone please explain this army number?  Also I can't seen to find George Keen's birth anywhere although I've found him (and all his siblings) on the census.  They were all born in Luton.  Is it possible that he was born with a different Christian name?  Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance.

HI

The A.S.C . stands for Army Service Corps 1914 -1918
Dvr means Driver think T4 is something to with Territorals
the other number would be the division but it can change for any soldier if he is placed with different divisions

He did not receive a Star - so he didn't serve in a theatre war before 1916.

The ASC was  a complex amalgam of units with different responsibilities, and as the war progressed these units became much larger in size and of increasing diversity in function.
