John Bishop was on television today saying that his father has located the grave of Charles Bishop since they filmed the episode and that the family are now going to place a headstone on the grave as it has not got one at the present.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.  I assume he found his g.g.grandfather's marriage in Canada, on Ancestry Worldwide.

I think this was the best I've seen, I loved it!  and can't say any more than everyone has already said.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. I assume he found his g.g.grandfather's marriage in Canada, on Ancestry Worldwide.

I was just about to shout at the telly too but remembered that these programmes are filmed and edited in advance, so the record was probably researched before filming.  :D

I found it very interesting other than the fact that my local record office did a sterling job.  Well done Chichester.

Sorry, what I meant was when John Bishop typed in his ancestor's name, the screen didn't look like Ancestry UK and when he found the marriage details in Canada, he was able to look at a record showing his ancestor's rank in the army.

I agree it is all researched and then filmed, so it looks as though it is very easy just to type in a name and get lots of info.

I agree with the consensus here, it was a thoroughly absorbing episode covering issues we haven't seen before.  It was interesting to see how Charles Bishop's life course echoed John's in many respects, John was fascinated by the similarities.  I did wonder about Charles' wife and children though and where they figured in all the twists and turns of his life.  But then again, as we've said before, the programme can't cover everything!  All in all, a good one to end the series with!  :)
STOPP in West London and Bucks.  AUGUST, FEHRENBACH in London.  ISAAC, BLUNDELL in Liverpool.  BRANSON, WALSH in Manchester and Bucks.  GUNN in Bucks.  PEACE, STOCKINGS, STARKYN, BULLIN and ROOM in North Norfolk.
