I was just about to shout at the telly too but remembered that these programmes are filmed and edited in advance, so the record was probably researched before filming.

Sorry, what I meant was when John Bishop typed in his ancestor's name, the screen didn't look like Ancestry UK and when he found the marriage details in Canada, he was able to look at a record showing his ancestor's rank in the army.
I agree it is all researched and then filmed, so it looks as though it is very easy just to type in a name and get lots of info.
