St Peter, Worcester - 1825 marriage
« on: Thursday 06 December 12 17:47 GMT (UK) »
If anyone can do a look-up for me in the marriage register of St Peter, Worcester, I'd be very grateful. The marriage as shown on familysearch is Joseph Pitman & Mary Allcroft on 13 February 1825. I'm hoping the register holds some extra information to enable me to identify Joseph.

Thanks,    Jane

Unfortunately pre 1837 only give the couples, names, status, date and whether of the parish (at the time of the marriage not where they may have been born) and witnesses, who may be family members. :-\

No parents names  (or occupations) are given.

Yes, Patrish, I'm very aware of that, but parish and witnesses are exactly the clues I'm looking for. Sometimes you can strike lucky and an occupation is mentioned, so I live in hope! Thanks anyway

Hi Jane

Joseph Pitman - widower married Mary Allcroft - widow on February 23 1825 at St Peter's Worcester.

The film is very, very faint but the witnesses appear to be Joseph and Sarah Hunt who signed with their mark.

There is no trace of either of their first marriages in the Worcestershire Marriage Index.

Many thanks, Nemo. There's nothing to identify them at first glance, but knowing they were both widowed might help. I'll have a look in my Gloucestershire CDs to see if I can spot previous marriages. I'll work on the witnesses, too, there might be a lead there.
