Was 'Henry' registered as Harry at birth and married as Harry to Mary Jane HAILSTONE?  If so, can you please advise who actually registered his birth and their status?  Also, the names of his witnesses at marriage might be useful.

BIRTH record for 1859 shows HARRY Davis:
MARRIAGE 1885 shows HARRY Davis:
1891 CENSUS shows HENRY Davis:
1901 CENSUS shows HENRY Davis
As far as I am aware  it was his mother Sarah Davis(nee Bather) who registered the birth
I am trying to dig out the marriage certificate and will get back to you

I found this marriage reference:

Marriages Sep 1864   BLAKE  Henry  /  DAVIS  Sarah     Stockbridge  2c 163

I also found a HARRY born c1860 recorded as a son of Henry & Sarah BLAKE in the 1871 and 1881 Census returns at High Street, Stockbridge.

Thank you very  much, this does look very promising it would explain why i couldn't find a death for Sarah Davis and why, after Henry Davis's birth (1859) i could only find him in the 1861 census and not any other census again(1891) until he moved to West Ham where I was born. You are a genius and I am very grateful and of course it opens another stem
