HI all...on Ancestry...under Canada Obituary Collection, Death - Burial - Cemetery - Obituary...there are a DORIS PINTER & LIEF PINTER...i'm hopingn these people are who i think they are...could someone please look these up for me...

I don't see a Doris or Lief Pinder listed there when I looked on Ancestry.

Unfortunately, both of those references lead to the same obituary for a Milan Lukes who was a Czech theatre scholar who had translated plays by British and US playwrights such as Harold Pinter.

There is no mention of Doris Pinter or Lief Pinter in any obituary that I can see.

thanks...but i'm looking at a name...DORIS PINTER....and LIEF PINTER...i don't see HAROLD PINTER...Doris Pinter shows between John L. "Jack" Sargeant...and Collyer on page 2...tenth from the top...as does Lief Pinter...

I understand that you are looking for a Doris Pinter or a Lief Pinter but the only Pinter referred to in the obit is the playwright Harold Pinter.  Ancestry is sometimes flaky like this particulary where publications are concerned.

Do you have access to Ancestry?  If not, perhaps you could check with your local library to see if they have the library edition.

I don't know what info you may have received by PM but thought I would add this anyway.

The indexed records for for Doris and Lief show a birth date of Dec 14 1933. The publication date is Oct 01 2007 in Toronto.

Reading the obit, one sees that the date of birth given is that of the subject of the obit, Milan Lukes. The obit is published in the Globe and Mail.

As mentioned above, the only Pinter named in the obit is Harold. Why Doris and Lief would be connected to this record is a mystery. However, their names are not in bold print like the names on other similar records. Other names with the bold print seem to lead to obits that are related to their respective names. Perhaps *A* connected Doris and Lief to Harold through their 'hints' system, although an internet search indicates that they apparently would not be the parents of the playwrite Harold mentioned in the obit.
