Just to add into the mix there is a William E Hagland marrying an Edith A Parrott in Nottingham March Qtr 1928. I am wondering if the family rumour he was in jail for fraud may have meant he was a bigamist??

Maybe the slip of a 'g' from Hagland for a 'd' in Hadland in the marriage in 1929 was intentional (I suppose I will have to wait for the certificate!!!) :-\

Does anyone know of any press releases about this??

I am now in touch with Maisie's granddaughter and she has confirmed that the death of Maisie in 1966 is right died aged 57.
She only knew her as Maisie though. I am favouring the birth of a Florence May 1909 as her but this is just a guess just now ... but there is a Lily Margaret born in Birkenhead 1910 which is also a possible ...

Hi

The only reliable starting point is a copy of one of her marriage certs which has been advised from the outset in view of the problems with her christian name.

If she was born in wedlock - it will show her fathers name and occupation.  As she was born in 1909 - that should enable you to look for her on the 1911 census

If you are lucky - one of the witnesses may be a sibling which will help further

Hi CaroleW
I have sent off for both of her marriages just awaiting there arrival I suspect they are snaggled up in the Xmas post  ;)

I am so sure she was not Bertha's child and I am pretty sure she wasn't born named Maisie .... that is why I am thinking Florence May

I am thinking this as so many of my family back then adopted names that weren't their birth names .. researching them has been challenge to say the least

It would seem that Maisie may have been born as Frederica Haddon (the child that was pointed out on this thread thank you :) ).. her mother was Kitty Haddon. No father was noted on the birth certificate.
Now trying to find who Kitty was? Trying to connect the Landy family to the Haddon's and to why Bertha Landy took on Frederica/ Maisie in her late 40s as her own child?? There must have been some family connection...

I have seen a Kathleen(could be Kitty)  Haddon married in 1909 .. the scan is not great so has 8a 1002 and 8a 1092 as 4 possible marriages for her.

Hi Barbara.H
Yes things are coming together thanks to loads of help here :)

The address on the Birth Cert was 67 Walsingham Road Birkenhead which fits with the Seacombe reference in 1911
