« on: Tuesday 04 December 12 23:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am looking to find out more about Maisie Landy.

She married  William E Hadland (poss Hagland) in Liverpool Dec qtr 1929

In March qtr 1937 she became Maisie V L  Hagland marrying a William Bennett in Liverpool South.

I can't find her birth or anything about her family

Any help would be wonderful

Do you have a copy of either marriage cert showing her age and her fathers name?

When and where did she die as her death reg will give you a birthyear

Maisie can be a nickname for Margaret or Marjorie and was originally a Scottish variant of Margaret.

Hi CaroleW

There is this birth in 1909 but as you say a marriage cert is needed.

May she have Irish origins? If this is your ancestor, are you able to find out anything more via living relatives?  :-\

But as others have said, you really need a copy of her marriage certificate/s. There are one or two possible candidates in the 1911 census, but we really need to know her father's name before we look any further.

Hi Cal,

Just found a report in the Manchester Guardian of an inquest on Mrs Bertha Landy aged 70, who died on December 13 1934, following an accident at a school concert the day before. The floor of St Clements Church of England School collapsed during a school concert. Her daughter, Mrs Maisie Hagland, gave evidence at the inquest, saying that the room had been far too crowded.

In 1901, there is a Bertha C Landy age 37 in Wavertree with husband William (39), and children Bertha E (17) and Harold J (12), but I can't see them in 1911

 :) Barbara

PS there were two articles about the inquest; in one of them it says Bertha Landy lived on Upper Parliament St, but doesn't give an address for Maisie

I was actually looking in hope of seeing a death for Maisie's husband somewhere, as Hagland is not too common. Finding Maisie & her mum was more than expected!  :D :D

There are Catholic baptisms on Anc for Bertha Emily Landy and Harold John Landy, parents William Landy and Bertha Jarvis. No sign of a Maisie though  :-\
