Charles Douglas Barber married Dorothea Ida Garbe 03/04/1916 he was a chemist living at Nelmes House his father was Alfred Barber a gentleman Dorothea's father was also a gentleman. Freebmd has children starting 1917.  Married at St Andrews Hornchurch

Thanks so much.  I managed to trace his g/g/son (through Rootschat) who had died in 2000 which means that there could still be living relatives!  This means that my research has ground to a halt.

Despite emailing every Barber in the area I have not managed to trace anyone who was related to Charles.  Such a pity as I am sure there is someone out there who would love to have an original document that their great/great/great relative signed.

I missed a great out, yes the man who died in 2000 was my dearly loved and painfully missed Granddad,
He taught me about my family history and my great uncle has it traced back to 1600.
My granddads eldest sister is alive still in her late 90's.

I am absolutely thrilled to hear from you.  I have been trying for years to contact someone from the family as I have an original counterpart lease dated 23 December 1899 signed by Alfred Barber which I found amongst my grandmother's papers.

I have traced a Baptism record for Leslie Bellingan, from Cape Town in Feb 1918. Parents are shown as:
Frank Peter Bellinghan (on active service)
Florence Marion Bellingan.
I have a copy that I can forward if of interest.
I have been trying to trace details of Leslie Bellingan and his war service, for a project recording Rhodesian military casualties. Leslie's tragic death at the hands of the Japanese is well recorded. What I have not been able to establish is what links Leslie had to Rhodesia. Does Terence have any further details that would help shed light. Leslie is definitely a man who deserves being honoured and remembered.
Any help would be appreciated.

My grandmother, Dorothea Fulton married Frank.  Although I don't have any information on his children from a previous marriage I will see what I can find out for you. Frank and my gran lived in Rhodesia for many years.  My uncle might well have known Frank's children. I will come back to you.
