Redskin Village, Mitcham (the Rocky)
« on: Monday 03 December 12 21:29 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any details or information regarding my great aunt and uncle, Ernest and Unity Smith.  They lived at 13 New Close, Mitcham in the 1940s.  They had 1 son named Alfred (Alfie).

Hi ya Waynus James, Merry Christmas to you.

Please can you expand a little, do you know who Ernests' brothers and sisters were? Because i think that Ernest and Unity may also be my great aunt and uncle. My family of smiths also lived in New Close at number 16.

Looking forward to your reply eagerly. :)

Hi Ellyllon

Thanks for coming back to me.

Ernie had a sister named Sarah and she married a man named Chambers (possibly Alfie) and they had a son named Alfie.  They lived at 8 Seaton Road, Mitchum.  Alfie (jnr) has the following children - Alfie, Tommy, Jesse, Tina, and Lorraine.  Sorry I don't know any of the other brothers and sisters but may be able to find this out.

Do you have any photos of Ernie and Unity as I would love to have a copy if this is the right family.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes and Happy Christmas.

Waynus  :)

Hi, my Dad lived at number 11 New Close and remembers Alfie Smith. Our family is the Bushaway's and lived there until moving to 144 Phipps Bridge Road, opposite Brooks shop right on the corner of New Close.

Thanks for leaving this message.  You are the first person to know anyone who remembers Alfie.  Alfie is my father's cousin and nothing is known about him or his parents.  Does your dad remember any details - who he married, how many children he had - anything really would be great.  Especially any photos of Alfie or his parents if one exists.  Does your dad remember Alfie's parents Ernest and Unity?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
Waynus

I will talk to my Dad further in next couple of days and see what light he can throw. He certainly knew the family as they were direct neighbours and spent a good many years in the area. Will get back to you as soon as possible. Photos are unlikely as ones of our family are equally rare.
