Sorry folks. Until "Twiggy" emailed me today I did not know there were researchers having a problem contacting me.
I started A Kiwi Adams Finding his Roots! website with 60 immediate family names in Nov 99 when it was much more difficult to find info on line. From the onset I made the decision not to discard any information or individual who was linked by blood or marriage to any current individual listed on the site. To a certain extent this has come to be a bit of a challenge for me as it has grown to 240,000 linked individuals and as it has developed as it has broadened to cover 14,000 unique surnames and about 44,000 families.
Nelson my home town was a small community with a relatively limited number of large families who intermarried and moved to other parts of New Zealand, in itself with a small population base. Those researchers who elect to cover immediate family links only, miss the sibling links that result from a marriage which my site picks up. Some of the links have become apparent several years apart in the sites life and I have been advised by some researchers that they have found "best friends" to be 3rd cousins by marriage.
I can assure you that the info on the site is genuine. As it covers research by others as well as by myself I cannot guarantee that it is 100% accurate but the researchers who have contributed the information it contains, believe it to be an accurate record. Where I receive conflicting information about an individual I attempt to check it myself using internet resources and if that is not possible I tend to use the data supplied by the closest immediate family researcher.
To give you an idea of the challenge it now presents it takes about 30 on-line hours to update the site which is why I only do it about four times a year. I have a further problem in that I posted it on the My Heritage website, resulting in me currently having over 2,000 MESSAGES advising me of "Smart matches". They are covering 30,000 individuals. Genealogy is a hobby for me and as I work full time it only gets done when I get an opportunity (although my wife would argue that it consumes a lot of my leisure time)
My genealogy email is:
