Hi Charlie,
The NSW state records office  www.records.nsw.gov.au  has digitised records of ships arrivals and passenger details including the John Davies in 1855.  However the site is not behaving at the moment .. ::)  It has been down today and  has come back up now yet has broken links.  Maybe tomorrow ...?

regards,

Fingers crossed that this "back door" link will work ..... Scroll down to May 1855 should get you to the ship :) and thus to the passenger list.

Perhaps if you try tomorrow all will be back to normal.

Here is some info from the records of the Immigration Board which are usually a bit more detailed than the passenger manifests...

John Davies
Immigrants inspected on 10 May 1855

Robert MURRAY, 39, Labourer, native of Ayrshire, parents William and Barbara - dead (unclear whether both are dead or just William), Presbyterian, can read and write, has a sister in Sydney.

Agnes MURRAY, 31, native of Ayrshire, parents William and Janet in Ayrshire, Presbyterian, can read and write

Children William, 11, John, 9, Janet, 6, Agnes, 5, and James Davies MURRAY, infant born onboard
