A Ronald family of Ayrshire
« on: Sunday 02 December 12 01:01 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know anything about George Ronald or Hector or Agnes? The other two family members are fairly well researched so don't need help on them.
I would appreciate any kind of information that anyone could give me.

George Ronald married Janet Cameron Earn,( a widow with one son named James)
George was probably born circa 1735 in Ayrshire, Scotland
They did live in Ayrshire, probably along the coast and likely close to Ayr.

Their family was composed of these children:
1 Thomas 1760-1844 lived in Ayrshire & at Paisley.
2 Hector (dates unknown) possibly married at Dreghorn  6 Nov.
1772. (also a Dairy farmer)
3 William abt 1770 -- abt 1840 married Janet Blackwood Sept 1794
at Muirkirk, they lived at Muirkirk and had ten known children.
4 Agnes (dates unknown) married a Mr. Kelley and had 3 children.

Hi Dean,

I notice that you were quite successful in getting the "Ronald" family tree of Tarbolton on a previous post,

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,509875.msg3662006.html#msg3662006

I take the names George, Hector and Agnes did not have a lot of information on the Ronald tree, that you obtained previously. I have searched on SP and did not find any record that I could associate with this family. I feel these records have been searched previously by the tree owner, and as it is only Old Parish Records to go by, other records that you are searching for may not be available.

I also searched on Ayrshire Roots website, no mention of these Ronalds either.

Tom

PS Any reason why you posted in Midlothian rather than Ayrshire.
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Tom,
Thanks for your answer,
why Midlothian? Just a mistake, I guess, I don't know if I can move it or not, guess I should read the directions.
I haven't visited roots chat for a very long time & guess i kind of forgot about  the other message I posted.
As far as getting the other Tarbolton tree, i didn't get a reply from the gentleman that I sent a personal message to, i don't know why, maybe something went wrong somehow!
so no, I am not in possession of the Ronalds, Tarbolton tree.

Hi Dean,

I notice that "hughronald" has not been back onsite since Thursday 24 November 11 10:45, so hopefully he is OK, and maybe get him to reply. He made the same offer to someone else in his other post, but I suspect as he only had 2 posts, he was unable to use the PM system to exchange info. I found a "Ronald" tree from Tarbolton on a google search.

http://www.mccabeclan.com/ronald.htm

Maybe the moderator, will change this to Ayrshire.

Tom,
Here is  what I did, I sent a personal message  to Hugh a moment ago so i will see what happens!
Now back to the beginning...George is the progeniter of our clan & i've never even been able to find the name George Ronald in any old records. (later ones a George or two did show up.)
Anyway extracted  probate records of his time period from Ayr show  a George Ronald but i can't access them to see what they contain.
I am not a subscriber to ancestry, thats the probem.

I do suspect the Tarbolton family would connect somehow, just have to find the link.
i don't think Tarbolton was that far from where my ancestors lived.
Just looking for a little more family history on them if I could find it, a book will be published, probably within six months containing Ronald history & other branches.
Regards,
Dean
PS,
Are your interests also in the name THOMSON in Midlothian?
Mine come from there!

Hi Dean,

My Thomsons are from East Lothian, mostly fisherman from Prestonpans, Tranent and Cockenzie & Port Seton area.

Hope "hughronald" gets in touch with you. I have been trying to search but I can see marriage of Hector on LDS but not sure how he fits in to your family. Anyway good luck in your searches.
