Thanks, Sandra  :)

That marriage record lists Rachel as born in Ireland so does the death record list her as Alice Rachel born 'Northern Ireland', I wonder.

Like you, I have tried lots of combinations of name and surname but not found a death record.  I believe the "Northern Ireland" also comes from a family tree entry owned by someone in Arizona and written:
Alice Rachel McDowell - Birth 10 Nov 1824 in Northern Ireland - Death 29 Jan 1883 in Lawrence, MA
Have also come across a couple of other entries with the same death date but giving New York City - but I can't find anything under that either.  ???  Not sure that is correct anyway.
Have read Alica Rachel died of Typhoid Fever and is buried Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence, MA - Lawrence which is where Ellis died so seems more likely.

Information from family trees (online or otherwise) do need to be treated with caution and information verified- which explains 'Northern Ireland', etc.

I'm wondering if someone took the death record off the family tree, also - I'm going to contact the tree owner and see if he'll share the source of his info. THat's probably also where 'Northern Ireland' comes from, cause it's on his tree. I'll report back....

Would be interesting if you are able to make contact of the tree owner and get more details but in the meantime perhaps ballydw can confirm that's where these details came from-

Alice Rachel McDowell born 10th Nov 1824 Northern Ireland.
Marriage 19th October 1853 Lawrence Essex Massachuttes.
Died 29th January 1883.

One of the disadvantages of the internet is how quickly mis-information can be copied...

I know. I've found multiple family trees listing an ancestor here in America before any settlers actually arrived. and they all just copied it from one another.....  (apparently without reading any history books!! ;D)
