Can anyone on the board please enlighten me if the Lurgan Union Infirmary was a hospital during the 1900's?

Thank you.

did you get this on a death certificate? The Infirmary was the Workhouse but the death certificate would say Workhouse unless its status had changed to infirmary and later Lurgan Hospital until the 1970s when nearly everything moved to Craigavon Area Hospital. The hospital is still in operation today at the corner of Sloan St (formerly John st) and Tandragee Rd. I have some BMDs which show baptisms at WKR (workhouse early 1900s) and death cert for 1917 with Lurgan Infirmary for 1917 and 1929 so workhouse changed to infirmary between these dates
Areas Lurgan and neighbouring townlands in the Parishes of Shankill and Seagoe, Toomebridge County Antrim, Queens County New York, Hartford Connecticut, Michigan USA. Names Doyle McElroy Pollock  Harte Neill Hall Mc Cully Wright Boyle Murray Mc Conaghy Mc Cann Brown Patterson Carson Hines Lauder Waters Watson Hendron Tweedy Warnock
