Mordecai Boswell (Wainwright)
« on: Friday 30 November 12 23:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
New to this so please bear with me.
While I was growing up my Dad always told me that family legend has it that his Grandma (Ambrosina Walker) was a Gypsy princess.
What was / is a Gypsy princess?
I have followed the family tree back to Richard Boswell:
Richard Boswell m Philyss Blewitt = Absalom Boswell
Absalom Boswell m Mary Swales = Mordecai Boswell (Wainwright)
Mordecai Boswell (Wainwright) m Agnes Johnson = Ambersina Hebrozena Wainwright
Ambersina Hebrozena Wainwright m Henry Brett = Sarah Jane Brett
Sarah Jane Brett m William Walker = Ambrosina Walker
Ambrozina Walker m Cyril Grainger = Cyril Grainger
Cyril Grainger m Olive Ruth Fletcher = Stewart Grainger
Stewart Grainger m my mum and had me!!

So can anyone give me any info on the Boswells of Buckinghamshire / Nottinghamshire?

Hi

I wonder if this may help...it seems that Ambrosina Walker came from a Gypsy King named Daniel Boswell.

hi.
not sure how far you gone back heres some early 1700's Blewit's !

Charles Bluet b;1727 burial 23 feb 1775 Burrough on the Hill.

Francis Bluet bap;10 mar 1727 Eastwell, son of Abraham & Margart.

Major Blewitt child of Peggy b;29 july 1795 Belton,Rutland.

also if you want some reading from victorian england on the gypsies then The Dialect of the English Gypsies by Smart & Crofton has quite a bit on the Boswell Famillies.if it may be of any help
