1851 GT YARMOUTH LOOK UP
« on: Tuesday 31 May 05 22:21 BST (UK) »
Hi there

Could anyone please look up the 1851 census for Gt Yarmouth for me.

Im looking for Mary Ann Lamb who would have been around 4 yrs old. I know she had a brother Robert Arnold Lamb born 1851 (may have been before the census or after I don't know the date) and I know  her mother was called Mary. She would have been 28 and possibly a nurse. I don't know the name of her father.

Thanks

Jacqui

Hi Jacqui,

The transcribed edition of the 1851 records your lost sheep as follows -

HO/107/1806   F.634  P.51  Great  Yarmouth, Nfk
Address   ::  Market Road,  Great Yarmouth
Sarah L Blake  Wife (Head) M  33  F  Fish Merchants Wife  Gt.Yarmouth,Nfk
Margaretta Blake  Dau  8  F  Schl  Gt.Yarmouth
Mary F Lamb  WifS  M  28  F  Mariners Wife  Gt.Yarmouth
Eliza W Lamb  Niec  6  F  Schl  Gt.Yarmouth
Mary A Lamb  Niec   4  F  Schl  Gt.Yarmouth
Robert A Lamb  Neph  4  M  Gt.Yarmouth

Perhaps the the original census return may be more helpful.

Best of luck   ...   Peter

Jacqui,

I don't know how far you have progessed since posting, but the '51 census entry is for the family of Richard Lamb who married Mary Fiddes Watson, Mar qtr 1844 (Mutford). Her sister,  Sarah Ladley Blake, was my gg grandmother's (Maria Bond, nee Blake, 1818-1916) sister-in-law.
