boys orphanage in or around llandulas
« on: Thursday 29 November 12 05:41 GMT (UK) »
Hello All,  when my dads father died, dad and a younger brother were sent to Llandulas to live with an uncle by marriage, Daniel Cashman, a station master.  That would have been around 1913.  They were not there for long before they were sent to an orphanage.  I know that it was run by the nuns, but not much more than that.  I have seen some info about St. Clare's, but that seems to have been for girls.  Can anyone suggest a name for a place for boys?  Dad and his brother were likely around 6 & 4 in 1913, so it would have been a home for young boys.  Thanks.

The following suggests there was a National Childrens Home and Orphanage in Colwyn Bay in 1927 at least(Folder 20),but I don't know when it opened.

Hi Nibbs, thanks for that, as all I have seen has been reference to girls, so I was unsure if it housed both.  Seems there has been more published about girls in the home.

Thanks, despair, I will check that one out too.
